Exploring

The Garden

There is parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage. At the back of the cottage is a lovely enclosed south-facing English cottage garden with space on the lawn for al fresco dining and enjoying some sun.

The River

Bodenham is surrounded by tree-lined walks, some along the beautiful chalk River Avon … if you are fishing locally come and stay! Ideal for exploring the countryside on foot or by bike, and a variety of local pubs to be visited as well.

and Beyond

A five minute drive takes you to the Cathedral city of Salisbury with the Cathedral Close, markets & museums to be explored, gardens to be admired, a great playhouse, arts centre and much more.

Staying Local

Downton is 10 minutes by car (or an hour’s walk) for The Goat and The Wooden Spoon (both good). Salisbury is a five minute drive for lots of independent shops, the Charter Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, as well as a good baker on the square, and butcher and fishmonger in Fish Row.

Visit the dreamy cathedral (which holds one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta) and its beautiful Cathedral Close to discover Mompesson House (National Trust), Arundells (home of Sir Edward Heath) and The Wardrobe, or any of several National Trust houses and gardens nearby. The stunning Wilton House is 15 minutes and the New Art Centre sculpture park & gallery at Roche Court is half an hour.
